Seismic Analysis of Crude Oil Storage Tanks for BSM Baker

9/12/2016

Seismic analyses with fluid-structure interaction (FSI) were performed on a concrete tank farm consisting of 12 tanks arranged in a 3 x 4 grid. Each tank has plan dimensions of 110 x 110 m, a maximum depth of 17 m, and working storage capacity if 1.1 million barrels. The objective of the investigation was to determine the stress resultants in the structural elements of the tanks, due to seismic loading. This information was used in the structural design performed by others.
