Structural Analysis and Assessment of a 1000 tonne 32’ x 14’ SAG Mill for NCP

ASM were involved in the assessment of design modifications which were implemented as part of the refurbishment of an existing 1000 tonne Semi-Autogenous Grinding (SAG) mill. The structural design verification of the modified sag mill was performed using non-linear finite element analysis. Deformation results were evaluated for functional design requirements. Furthermore, the fatigue design and assessment of the bolted connections were performed according to recognised structural design codes.
